Regional Design Studio is a boutique design firm based on the Gold Coast, Australia. The firm strives for authentic climatically appropriate design solutions, specializing in tropical design to address climate, sustainability and local environment.

Phillip began his career by graduating from Sydney University of Technology and finishing post graduate studies in London, then practicing for extended periods in Sydney, Singapore, Cairns and now the Gold Coast.

DESIGN PROCESS AND SERVICES
CONCEPT DESIGN
​The Concept Design stage works collectively to refine your brief and provide an idea of the development outcome with planning diagrams and supporting data. 3D massing models are often provided too.

THE BRIEF
We will work together to formulate a design statement that will establish the direction of your project.

SITE ANALYSIS
Regional Design Studio prides itself on creating unique designs that respond to the climate of the project. We will analyse your site and develop a design that utilizes the sites unique features while responding to the projects climate.

LOCAL AUTHORITY
Depending on the size and type of project, collaboration with town planners may be necessary to ensure a smooth process when providing submissions to the local council authorities. Through this collaboration we will ensure the project meets the local planning requirements while maintaining its unique value.

CONCEPT PLANS
During the concept design stage we will provide 2D Floor plans, Sections, Elevations and a 3D Concept Model of the project as it evolves. This will allow you to fully understand the project and visualize it within its context.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
​Design development is where your project will be refined and selections of finishes will be chosen. During this process regular consultations with town planners or local authorities will be scheduled to maintain a smooth process through development approval.

CONSULTANT COORDINATION
It is better to engage consultants earlier in the project. This will allow for a smooth transition into contract documentation. Consultants can range from traffic engineers, acoustic engineers and landscape architects etc. While consultants are engaged we manage, coordinate and approve their drawings through this process.

DEVELOPMENT APPROVAL
Development approval requires a set of documents to be submitted to the local authority for stamped approval. These documents outline the project and its impact on the local area.
CONTRACT DOCUMENTATION
​Contract documentation is the inclusion of all consultant documentation and coordination. You will be presented with an Architectural package containing detailed drawings and specifications for tendering to potential builders.

PROJECT DOCUMENTATION AND COORDINATION
The project will be detailed, documented and coordinated to all Australian and International Standards and Codes whilst maintaining the architectural value.

Depending on the size of the project we will engage engineers to design and document services for the project. Consultants vary between Structural, Hydraulic, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.

SPECIFICATION
A comprehensive document containing all finishes, fittings, interior and exterior products and specific building techniques.
CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION
​Contract Administration ensures the project is built as documented through site inspections and finishes of the project are kept to a high standard on site.

ADMINISTRATION
Administration of the project includes approval of shop drawings, site inspections during construction and managing builder request for information.
